Ofterschwang is a town in the Swabian district Oberallgäu and member of the administrative community Hörnergruppe headquartered in Fischen im Allgäu. The community Ofterschwang is located 4 km southwest of Sonthofen in upper Iller under the ridge of the horns chain. Since the peace treaties of Brno and Bratislava in 1805 the place belongs to Bayern. Ofterschwang was part of the county Königsegg-Rothenfels, which had been reversed in 1804 to Austria and in the Peace of Pressburg fell to Bavaria.
